Originally created for the new carriages of French high-speed trains, the TGV lamp was designed by Ionna Vautino at the request of the SNCF (French national railway company). A strong emblem for train travel, this light combines seductive curves and geometric rationality. The TGV lamp's comfortable light and simple design are a constant presence wherever the train traveller decides to sit. From the platform where it greets passengers from behind the windows to the journey itself, the TGV lamp is a welcoming feature that promises the comfort of home. SNCF and Moustache have pooled their skills to bring to light a TGV lamp for our homes. Made of injected aluminium using the industrial equipment developed for fitting new TGVs, the home model of the lamp is identical to the ones you will see around you during your train journey. The only difference is that ballast has been added within the lamp body to ensure perfect stability and a screw system has been created under the base, so you can attach the lamp firmly in specific places like restaurants, hotels and public spaces.
Born in France in 1979, Ionna Vautrin studied design in Nantes, graduating in 2002. Since then, Ionna Vautrin has worked with some of the biggest names on the French and international design scene, including the Bouroullec brothers. The success of her creations was immediate, enabling her to work for some of the best-known brands, including Foscarini, for whom she creates lighting fixtures, as well as the French publisher Moustache, for whom she creates pure, elegant design accessories for the home. Among her creations are the Ô collection of vases and baskets and the Baobab table, full of charm and poetry for the bedroom. In 2011, Ionna Vautrin opened her own studio after winning the Grand Prix de la Création de la Ville de Paris.
