Description
While furniture is undeniably the main element of a layout, the addition of decorative and personal notes through the combined choices of fabrics, colours, objects and accessories allows spaces to be fitted out or rearranged differently according to moods and needs. In wood or ceramic, L'Oiseau by brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec is one of those accessories that will decorate your home with a touch of fantasy. Milled from maple wood and featuring soft sanded shapes, L'Oiseau is reminiscent of the clean lines of Nordic folk art objects. It adds a pleasing touch to modern furnishings, without being mawkish or too kitsch like many other animal figures... Produced by Vitra, it is an object to be proudly displayed on a desk for example.
Born in 1971 and 1976 in Quimper, France, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec pursued their studies at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris and the École nationale supérieure d’arts in Cergy-Pontoise, respectively. In 1999, the brothers teamed up to establish a design studio in Paris. Their work spans the creation of home accessories and objects (vases, tableware, jewelry…), furniture for the home and office, as well as architectural projects that involve spatial planning and design. Among their standout creations, the "l'Algue" for Vitra, is a modular design that, when assembled, forms an asymmetrical and poetic room divider. Alongside designers like Jasper Morrison and Hella Jongerius, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec play a key role in the growing Vitra Home Collection. In recent years, they have also collaborated with brands like Alessi, KartellandNanimarquina designing pieces such as the Losanges rugs. Ronan et Erwan Bouroullec have earned numerous accolades, including Designer of the Year at Maison et Objet Now! in 2011, the Grand Prix du Design from the City of Paris in 1998, the New Designer Award at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York in 1999, and the Finn-Juhl Prize in Copenhagen in 2008. Their works are housed in prestigious museums, including the MoMA and the Centre Pompidou. Through their collaborations with brands likeVitra, Hay annd Flos, Ronan et Erwan Bouroullec have become icons of 21st-century design.

VITRA
Vitra was founded in 1950 by Willi Fehlbaum and Erika Fehlbaum. The design furniture company Vitra is based near Basel, Switzerland. Starting in 1981, the design brand Vitra grew and opened many subsidiaries worldwide. The founders had spotted Eames Lounge Chairs by Charles and Ray Eames during a trip to New York, USA. They were immediately captivated and therefore requested a license to produce these pieces of furniture in Europe. In 1956, Vitra acquired this license, which became one of the keys to the brand's success.
