Halfway between sculpture and furniture, art and design, the Butterfly coffee table was created by British designer Alexander Taylor and is produced by Zanotta and E&Y. The base, made of curved plywood, is formed of butterfly shapes that repeat in a pattern of solid forms and empty spaces. The 10mm-thick tempered-crystal top heightens the sense of lightness and highlights the base. Available in two sizes and a variety of wood finishes, this is a coffee table to be displayed as a work of art in the living room, where it can be admired from all sides. Butterfly was awarded the Good Design Award in 2006.
