With the About A Chair collection, the designer Hee Welling wanted to develop a chair with an obvious simplicity. An understated, pure design for a chair that works just as well around a dining room table as it does around a conference table, in a canteen or in an office. The designer's aim was to combine form, function, detail and aesthetics. The Danish company Hay has released this collection, which presents a wide range of colours and structures. Here, the polypropylene shell rests on a wooden base. Available as a chair or small armchair, About A Chair ensures optimum comfort thanks to its ergonomically shaped, wrap-around shell. A chair that perfectly epitomises the simplicity, restraint and timeless style of Scandinavian design.
Hay was founded in 2002 to promote Danish design, and instead of strictly adhering to the style of the old masters, Hay reinvents their work in a more contemporary context. The company Hay reinterprets classic Nordic design forms in a modern setting, offering friendly, aesthetic, and functional designs. Hay draws inspiration from three main sources: art, architecture, and fashion, while paying particular attention to the surrounding environment and contemporary culture. The goal of Hay is to revive Danish design furniture from the 1950s and 60s. The Hay chairs perfectly embody this spirit: a timeless and minimalist design that combines comfort and functionality with modern lines.
