The idea behind the About A Chair collection, designed by Hee Welling, is to develop a chair with an obvious simplicity. A sober and pure design for this chair that works equally well around a dining room table, a conference table or in an office. The designer's ambition is to combine form, function, detail and aesthetics. The Danish company Hay has released this collection, which presents a wide range of colours and structures. With its five-star base on castors, the small AAC 153 combines optimum functionality with modern aesthetics. Maintaining the same high backrest and generous seat that characterise the series, Hay has designed a base with a gas lift piston that allows the seat height to be adjusted over a range of 14 cm. The shell is available in a variety of upholstery options, offering a multitude of design combinations that give this series great versatility.
Hay was founded in 2002 to promote Danish design, and instead of strictly adhering to the style of the old masters, Hay reinvents their work in a more contemporary context. The company Hay reinterprets classic Nordic design forms in a modern setting, offering friendly, aesthetic, and functional designs. Hay draws inspiration from three main sources: art, architecture, and fashion, while paying particular attention to the surrounding environment and contemporary culture. The goal of Hay is to revive Danish design furniture from the 1950s and 60s. The Hay chairs perfectly embody this spirit: a timeless and minimalist design that combines comfort and functionality with modern lines.
